1908
by FURUYA, Kōrin
1908. FURUYA, Kōrin. ASHIDEMOYÔ. Kyoto, Unsodo, Meiji 41 [1908]. 23.5 x 32cm design album. One page of Japanese calligraphy followed by 12 full page original woodblock prints of abstracted landscape and natural designs in the rich colors of this seminal artist from the Kyoto Neo-Rinpa school. Printed with accents of metallic pigment and karazuri. A very scarce book: only 4 copies located in libraries worldwide. A record in the National Diet Library in Tokyo hints that this may be a companion volume to Korin Moyo, published the previous year. Contents complete, the original front paper cover over baord is intact. The rear paper cover is missing, though the board remains and is attached. The condition, color and printing of the woodblocks is very nice, indeed. A beautiful selection of Rinpa styles, updated to modern tastes.
