World War I poster published by the United States Fuel Administration promoting the sale of coal. Reads "Get it out of Uncle Sam's way - he needs the railroads for the war." Some wrinkling to edge of poster. Frederick G. Cooper (1883-1962) was a graphic designer and illustrator well known for his cartoons and typography. In addition to his regular contributions to Life magazine, he also produced several posters for the War Department, including this one and other notable posters for the Food Administration. The lowercase typeface was characteristic of his style. (Inventory #: 320985)
