Unbound. Near Fine. Sepia-toned gelatin silver photograph. 5.5" x 8". Image depicts Zachery seated at an upright piano. Identified in ink on verso, and also identified from a portrait on a calendar mounted on the wall behind him. Circa 1960. Professor Zachary, from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, lived in "a part of the well-educated black community which centered around Branch Normal College." He attended the New England Conservatory of Music and the Eastman School of Music, and performed in both America and Europe. He lived to be nearly 100, and taught music to hundreds of Black students.
