Dee Brown's first novel is based on the life and times of Davy Crockett and follows his story, ending of course with his fate at the Alamo. The stamped image on the front board is supposedly of Davy Crockett and Margaret Elder, his love interest in the tale. The back dust cover flap includes a plea to send the book to a soldier who "needs good reading" once you're finished and how to get it to them, as they might enjoy the story of another American soldier. (Inventory #: 29473)
