New York, New York: Arthur S. Vernay Inc, 1937. Very good. Dust soiling to wrappers and first leaf. A couple chips to upper wrapper.. A trade catalogue for the Autumn 1937 season, advertising "rare examples of early English furniture, Georgian silver, porcelain, panelled rooms and other objects of art" recently "acquired in London and on the Continent" by the antiques dealer Arthur S. Vernay. Vernay (b.1877) immigrated from England to New York City at an early age, and made his start working in furniture shops. He opened his own business in 1906, selling antique English furniture as well as providing restoration and repair services. He had a personal collecting interest in natural science, and went on several expeditions to acquire specimens for the American Museum of Natural History. The present catalogue was published when his shop was well established among New York's elite as a destination for the finest in English antiques. Includes over a dozen items, each photographed with a brief description and measurements. No prices are given. Highlights include a Chippendale armchair and pie-crust table, a Queen Anne secretary bookcase, and several rare porcelains, including Kittty Clive and Henry Woodward figurines. Single vol. (9.75" by 6.5"), pp. 33, [3], in original bright orange printed wrappers.
