Dean Combers great work was intended to reconcile Protestant dissenters to the church of England. Covers Morning and Evening Prayer; Of the Litany, with the Occasional Prayers and Thanksgivings; Of the Communion Office, with the Offices of Baptism, Catechism and Confirmation; and Of the Occasional Offices: Matrimony, Visitation of the Sick, etc. Thomas Comber (1645-1699) was Dean of Durham from 1689. The first installment of Combers work appeared in 1672. It was not until 1684 that Companion to the Temple was issued complete in four parts.. (Inventory #: 7880)
