Light shelf/edge wear, corners gently bumped, fraying at head and heel, closed split at rear joint and across spine (stabilized with an archival covering), tips through, front joint cracked (but tight), minor glue toning at pastedowns, small area of damage at ffep/pastedown (appears to be adhesive based), penciled "10" at ffep, tissueguard foxed (ghosted at title page), else tight, bright and unmarred. Brown cloth boards, black ink lettering and decorative elements, decorative endpages, frontispiece, tissueguard, fold-out map and plate. 8vo. 198pp. Illus. (b/w plates). The story of Andrews' solo voyage from Atlantic City to Palos, Spain (July 21 to Sept 20, 1893), in "Sapolio". The boat was a sneakbox, 14 feet 6 inches, approximately 5 feet wide with a 3 foot draft, which Andrews built himself. Noted flaws nothwithstanding, a very presentable copy of this increasingly scarce volume.
