Book Description

Newark, VT: Janus Press.. 2004. Diamond shaped 8vo. truncated at spine. It consists of 12 leaves made from various colored papers with geometric cutouts and designs, some with mounted patterned papers. The leaves diminish in size as the poem (printed in white) progresses. The whole of the design is intended to evoke a patchwork quilt. Edition limited to 120 copies, signed by Claire Van Vliet, Ellen Dorn Levitt, Audrey Holden and Mary Richardson (the latter 3 helped with the design and assembly). This copy is inscribed by Claire Van Vliet. The "book," with thin cardboard covers, is housed within an inset of the publisher's clamshell box which is lined with various patterned fabrics that continue the quilt theme. The clamshell case is covered with a patterned rose fabric, paper label on spine printed in lilac. Laid in is a printed letter/prospectus under the Janus Press letterhead, signed by Claire Van Vliet.
