Montreal: M. Longmoore, 1867. Second edition (first published the previous year). Small 8vo. 196 pp. Illustrated with eight mounted albumen prints (the first edition was issued with ten, though they were "less realized than those of the second edition" according to Goldschmidt) by Notman, two of Niagara, including one of the suspension bridge, one portrait of an old trapper, views of Montreal and outdoor scenes. With the contemporary ownership signature "Mrs. Simcoe" at the head of the title page. Truthful Lens 163: "Notman (1826-1891) was the most significant Canadian photographer of his time." Original gilt-stamped decorated black cloth (spine ends frayed). Very good. (956).
