First edition, posthumously published and edited by the authors son. Cotton is best remembered for Visions in Verse, an adaptation for children of John Gays fables; it was first published in 1751 and many times reprinted. A final revised text is printed at the end of Vol. I here, which includes other verse fables, a section of occasional poetry, and some good riddles, all clearly intended for children.
