Book Description

London: Printed for T. Wiche, Bookseller to the Society for promoting religious Knowledge among the Poor, 1797. xii, 34; [6],44pp., 18mo. Two parts, each with separate title-page; title somewhat soiled, a couple of gatherings partly sprung. Original blind-tooled sheep; spine slightly defective, but sound. First published in 1671, Janeway’s puritan exhortation to potentially-damned children was popular for well over a century on both sides of the Atlantic. All early editions are rare, ESTC locating only the imperfect Lilly Library copy of this one. COPAC adds another, at the British Library.
