Book Description
Shrewsbury: Printed by Sandford and Maddocks, 1800. or, a Short and Easy Method of Teaching and Learning Geography. . . whereby Even Children may in a short Time know the Use of the Terrestrial Globe and Geographical Maps, and all the considerable Countries in the World. xii, 154pp., 12mo. Folding engraved hemispheric map of the world as frontispiece, two engraved charts, and a folding engraved table of the spheres; one short split in a fold of the frontispiece, but a good fresh copy in the original blind-tooled sheep, unlettered,; upper joint cracked and a small piece chipped from spine head. The Twenty-Second Edition. This treatise was published sometime before 1750 and became a staple for the education of children. This edition statement is certainly close to exact, but many editions appear to have vanished altogether: the earliest in ESTC is a fifth of 1750, and of this one ESTC on-line locates only the BL copy. OCLC cites only one edition, the fifteenth of 1787, in a single copy at the Newberry Library.
