Desfontaines was a French journalist, translator, and popular historian- also known for his quarrels with Voltaire. He is regarded as a founder of new French journalism and literary criticism. Good (text nice but with two-inch clean tear to the top of pp. 197-198; evidence of a label removed from the front pastedown, rubbing covers with some cracking hinges). $850.00 Scarce!!
