Book Description
London: Printed for Richard Cumberland, 1693. and what seemed most Remarkable in more than forty Authors, Phylosophical, Chymical, Medical, Astronomical, Historical, &c. Whereunto is added an Appendix, containing. . . delightful Rules in many parts of the Mathematicks. By T.B. Gent. [ii], 120pp., 8vo. Blank corner torn from title just touching the line border but no text, stain at head of title and in the upper margin of the last few leaves, a few manuscript notes and markings throughout. Contemporary calf; neatly rebacked and recornered. First and only edition, a very interesting compendium of later seventeenth century discoveries. The author receiving the most entries, not inappropriately, is Robert Boyle, whose experiments on colours, forms and qualities, and The Sceptical Chymist are discussed and abstracted, as are some astronomical observations of Robert Hooke, and a number of different medical authors and works. Wing B781, recording only the British Library and Bodleian copies outside the U.S.A.
