Book Description

Sausalito, Marin County, California: Club House and Anchorage, 1908 First edition. Tall 12mo. Photographic plates, folding map, color plates. Original white sail cloth printed in dark blue. One color plate of yacht flags with some flags cut out and drawn in on the opposite blank leaf. Original owner's name on cover. Pencil sketches on blank endpapers. A very good copy. Includes two photographic plates (one of the Club House in Sausalito), a folding map, with depths shown, of the upper San Francisco Bay and Tributaries, one color plate of cap ornaments, one color plate of yacht ensigns (a few flags cut out as noted above), and two color plates of private signal flags. Includes the By-Laws of the Club, House Rules, tables showing time allowance for one nautical mile, a listing of yachts and their owners, officers and other members of the Club, uniforms for members, yacht etiquette, the program for the 1908 season, and the various cup races including the San Francisco Challenge Cup. The original owner has drawn, on the endpapers in pencil, detailed sketches of four boats with details on their builder, when built, length and beam, etc. The boats include the Eyole, Prowler II, Pronto, and Aileen. He has also listed the eleven boats he had owned. Interestingly, his name does not appear within the listing of members! The Clubhouse was located in Sausalito, Marin County. We can only assume that is where it was printed. Very rare! No copies located anywhere! No copies at auction in thirty-five years!.
