Book Description
New York. A "Broadway Bank" check signed by "A Oakey Hall" as New York City mayor. The check paid the "Bank of America... Fourteen thousand Dollars for redemption of N.Y. County Bonds for the repayment of Taxes due Nov 1st 1871... ". Much of the Tweed Ring defrauding came through bogus accounts and checks, and this may very well be one of them, considering the amount of the check and the "repayment of Taxes". The check is in outstanding condition overall, and the cut cancellation does not affect the Hall autograph.
