A typed letter signed “Yousef” on his decorative “Karsh” stationery to Evelyn Mannes: “Mere words can never express the deep sense of shock I experienced when I read of the tragic and untimely passing of our beloved Leopold, and I hasten to send to you my prayerful thoughts and sympathy in your grief. I shall never forget Leopold’s many spontaneous kindnesses to me, nor those delightful soirees and other occasions I was privileged to share in his good company. I feel his leaving us very deeply my dear Evelyn, and I just wanted to let you know that in these days of darkness many other hearts grieve with you. God bless you, and comfort you.” The letter has one mailing fold and is accompanied by the original mailing envelope; it is in fine condition.
