A Russian immigrant, she was arrested 13 times and never had a conviction until the 1930s; she did a 30-day stint in jail in 1935. She left the business by 1943, moved to Los Angeles, and wrote her memoirs A House is Not a Home. SB. 374pg. 5 ¾" x 8 ¼". June 4, 1953. No place. A book A House Is Not A Home inscribed on the free front endpaper "To Dorothy Kilgallen, I ain't really mad about the 'Ain't' Best, Polly, June 4-53". It was published in 1953 by Rinehart and Company. The binding it tight and the hinges are sound. There is a stain at the bottom of the spine and the dust jacket is worn and chipped
