Collation: [iii] iv-ix, [1], 1398 [4] + 10 chromo -lithograph plates and 102 in text engravings. Binding has rubbing to ends of spine, along hinges and at corners where there is some loss at the edges. Internal condition is generally very good with some minor to moderate edge foxing. Plates are in very good condition. This is the first book publication of Rosenbusch who played an important role in advancing the field of microscopic petrography and made many significant contributions to the relationship of molten magna to rock formation. In the present work Rosenbusch provides extensive discussion on the preparation and microscopic examination of important minerals in numerous forms of rocks, preceding each discussion with a list or relevant publications.
