A collection of short stories, with "Trodden Dust" being detective fiction. Tales of Kahler and his grandafther in the hills of upstate New York. Signed presentation from Kahler on the front endpaper: "For Betty Trotter, bless her golden heart! Hugh MacNair Kahler. Princeton, October 1931." Author Booth Tarkington's secretary was Betty Trotter and, although there is no evidence or provinance, this may be her copy. Tarkington went to Princeton and knew Kahler later in life, with Kahler corresponding and even photographing him. Very Good (little spotting along edge of spine & spine a bit cocked; contents clean & tight); few small chips & short tears (price is present on the front flap) d/j.
