Dorman Bridgeman Eaton [1823-1899] was an American lawyer and instrumental in federal Civil Service reform for in the United States and Great Britain He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1848. He was a conspicuous figure in the fight against New York City's Boss Tweed political machine and was even assaulted and injured by one of the Tweed gang members. Inscribed by Eaton on the front cover: "With the respects of D. B. Eaton." Good (moderate soil to the white covers & tiny chips spine ends, light fold down middle; contents clean & tight). Scarce!!
