Book Description

New York: Simon and Schuster. (1975). First. First edition. Fine in a fine dustwrapper with just a touch of fading at the top of the front panel and a tiny nick on the rear flap. Nicely Inscribed by the author to actor and comedian Alan King: "Feb. 1975 Dear Allen(sic) King -- My many thanks for your time & help -- Fond, good wishes -- Sincerely, Anne Edwards." King opened for Garland on stage through much of 1956, first in New York for half a year and then touring and at Garland's Royal Command Performance in London (he later claimed she kept him employed during that difficult period in her professional life because no one else could better announce "Miss Garland will not appear tonight"). King, who is cited in the index as the source of an anecdote about Garland's funeral, is listed in the acknowledgements and was no doubt a valuable resource for Edwards. A pleasant association. .
