London: J. Downing, 1732. Book. 8vo, contemp. full calf, broken, covers detached. Pp.lxxxiv, [4], 158, [34], a.e.g. Armorial bookplate of John Grubb. Second edition. A broken copy, but one made interesting by a long presentation inscription from Harley to John Grubb: "Mr Grub is desired to accept this book from the author who has the pleasure to reflect that he was in some degrees serviceable to his Mother who in the year 1685 upon the repeal of the Edict of Nantes came into England with her Uncle Dr. Donne when he was about 17 years old. She was a Lady of Exquisite Beauty which was imbellish'd with the Charms of her great Modesty." Harley was a religious and miscellaneous writer from an illustrious family. He was the son of Sir Edward and Abigail (Stephens) Harley; the younger brother of Robert Harley, first Earl of Oxford; uncle to Edward, second Earl of Oxford, the eminent collector and friend of literati; and father of Edward, third Earl of Oxford..
