Book Description

New York: Random House , 1936. First Edition. Oversize. Signed presentation copy from Harry Ruby. Inscribed by the author: “To Norman Foster, To inscribe a book for the above kid is a pleasure. Sincerely, Harry Ruby.” Norman Foster was a film director who directed a number of the better Mr. Moto and Charlie Chan films. His stylish approach came to the attention of Orson Welles who asked him to direct the Mercury film production of Eric Ambler’s novel Journey Into Fear (1943). A collection of the team’s best songs in words & music, accompanied by humorous tributes from such noted personalities as Robert Benchley, Moss Hart, Irving Berlin, Nunnally Johnson, Marc Connelly, and Groucho Marx. Harry Ruby was a writer for the Ziegfeld Follies, the classic Marx Brothers movie Animal Crackers, and many comedic tunes for vaudeville. With some very minor offsetting to the front endpapers and some slight rubbing to the edges, otherwise very good plus without dust jacket.
