Leather bound
1924 · Paris
by Nerval, Gerard de
Paris: Edouard Pelletan, 1924. 177/1850. Leather bound. VG internally but with some wear to outer spine, especially rubbing at front hinge and a small piece missing at head.. Blue Morocco leather with four raised bands and gilt lettering to spine; Large "S" in gilt on front cover. A lovely small volume measuring 4 x 6 inches (10 x 15.5 cm). Mustard yellow end papers. 193 pp. with color frontis portrait. Occasional bw header and tail illustrations by Jean Perrier. Text in French. Delightful poems in a lovely binding and beautiful font. Would make an ideal gift. Gérard de Nerval was the nom-de-plume of the French writer, poet, essayist and translator Gérard Labrunie. It is assumed that the illustrator, Jean Perrier, is the same as Jean Barthelemy Perrier, the French illustrator and scenery artist, 1884-1942.
