1927 · Leningrad
This first edition of 1927 was limited to 5100 copies and is now scarce. The significance of the text is such that it has been reprinted three times (1961, 1983 and 2004); of course none of these reprints feature the original impression of the justly famous Constructivist wrappers designed by Valentina Khodasevich (1894-1970), celebrated Soviet theater and graphic artist. This book was the third in the series "Theatrical Memoirs" edited by P.I Novitsky and E. Kuznetsov.
The portrait of 17-years-old M.G. Savina is reproduced for the first time from her photograph taken in Kaluga in 1871; likewise, these Memoirs are fully printed for the first time from the manuscript in the Museum of Academic Theaters. (Inventory #: 2316)
