by [South Carolina]: [Slavery
Charleston, 1858. 16pp. Original printed wrappers. Spine perished, held together with brass tacks; light chipping and soiling. Paper lightly and evenly toned. Good. Report submitted to the South Carolina Senate, which concludes that slavery is essential to the agricultural production of the South. Additionally, the committee felt that the slave trade helped relieve Africa from "the pressure of a redundant population, as might be afforded by emigration in the only form in which its benefits can be extended to them."
