Philadelphia: American Sunday-School Union, n.d. (Circa 1826). 16mo. 32 pp. b/w wood engraved illustrations.
A preacher in England bumps into an old Sunday School student of his named John Robins. The two get to talking, and Robins tells how he managed to lose an eye, a best friend at Trafalgar, and a leg in the course of his naval career. He spent quite a while "in the service of sin" but eventually found his way back to the Lord, and now is perfectly happy to have been "a brand plucked out of the burning." Well, to each his own. Worldcat dates this pretty little book at 1826. It stands 4 1/4 inches tall and is bound in quarter leather over marbled boards, with gilt spine lettering. (Inventory #: 39645)
