A presentation copy of this interesting illustrated history of the University of Tennessee, which was chartered as Blount College in 1794. The work was written by Edward Terry Sanford. It is inscribed by him, "To the Harvard Union, from Edward T. Sanford, '85" on the front flyleaf. Sanford graduated from Harvard Law School and returned to his hometown of Knoxville to practice law. He had previously earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Tennessee. His history of the school is profusely illustrated with campus scenes and portraits of notable figures important to the university. Rarely met with in commerce. (Inventory #: WRCAM53654)
