The works of philosopher and theologian Emanuel Swedenbourg (1688-1772). Dedication to Prince Ludwig Rudolph of Brunswick. This is the first of Swedenborg's major works, and laid the groundwork for his later works on philosophy and theology. Each volume with three parts, and each part has its unique title with imprint. Volume 1 with a frontispiece foldout engraved portrait of Swedenborg. This set includes Swedenborg's works on natural science and mineralogy, which much of this work is composed of. This work is also compared to Newton's Principia due to Swedenborg's opinion of physics and the laws of motion. Covers rubbed and scuffed. Front inside hinges of volume I cracked. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown of all volumes. Pencil notations on back free endpapers. Plate XX in Vol. I out of sequence. Plate LIX in Vol. II lacking.
