signed unbound
1927
by KENT, Rockwell (1882 - 1971)
1927. unbound. poor. 1 page, 7.25 x 8.5 inches, no place, June 16 1927 -- a very affectionate letter signed "Rockwell" to his grandmother, Mrs. Virginia Tryon Kent ("Dear Grossmama"), in part: "...Mother has kept me informed as to your health and the sum of your activities, and I have not been quite as careless at heart as I have appeared. You speak in your letter of Tarrytown and the Old Lowry Place. I did not know that its name was 'Solitude.' That was my birth place, you remember...the gate house is still intact, but the main house was destroyed by fire some years ago. I am very happy at your having visited my exhibition and at your writing me about it. I earnestly hope that you continue in good health and that your faith gives you peace and happiness." Unevenly tripped at the top, frayed at the edges, and chipped at the bottom left corner. Poor condition but still an attractive original item (perfect for framing) from an iconic American artist.
