by LYON, Danny (1942 - )
New Suffolk, NY, 1985. unbound. very good. 1 page, 11 x 8.5 inches, Bleak Beauty letterhead, New Suffolk, New York, March 1, 1985, to book editor Aaron Asher, in small part: "...I have during the last few years, made a book for children. I LIKE TO EAT RIGHT ON THE DIRT is made from photographs I have made of my own children (four), with a text of poems I have written for them. The poems are about refusing to eat, camping out, and our pets; ("Che the hunter, Terror of mice, Does many things, That are not very nice%u201D). Things like that. I have also put some color around the pictures to keep things cheery...I would only add this. I am almost certain that next year, 1986, Aperture will re-issue The Bikeriders. At the same time my first feature length film WILLIE will be released. I think that the attention paid to these two works might help sell the children's book..." (NOTE: It would take Lyon four more years before he was able to release his children's book.) Very good condition. Acclaimed American photographer and filmmaker best known for his extensive coverage of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement. He is a founding member of the publishing group Bleak Beauty.
