Uncommon 1867 catalogue by Cowling & Co. of Seneca Falls, NY showcasing pumps, fire engines and hydraulic rams, and including well over 100 engraved plates. A number of the pages show light wear and offsetting, tipped-in engraved portraits at the pastedowns of opera singers Jenny Stubel and Marie Geistinger, and light wear to the hinges and endsheets. And yet, in spite of these clear signs of the book's age (did we also mention wear and light chipping along a number of the page edges and several loose pages?), the catalogue remains surprisinglhy presentable in its dark-green cloth and bright gilt-titling. Octavo, 118 pgs. Some of the items catalogued include Iron Cistern Pumps, Farm Pumps, Deep Well Lift Pumps, Portable Green-House Engines, Garden Engines, Piano Style Fire Engines and Boys' Fire Engines. A nice piece of mid-19th century Americana.
