Four volume set, published between 1682 and 1704. THE FIRST VOLUME LACKS ONE PLATE. Matching full vellum bindings with hand-lettered spine titles. The first volume has remnants of candle wax on the front cover. The fourth volume has splitting at the exterior hinges, remaining intact. All volumes are somewhat soiled. Minor damp-staining to the edges of some pages. The engraved title of the first volume is ragged at the margin, not affecting the text, and has a small stain. Several pages of the same volume have minor creasing on the edge. Vol. I: published by Wilhelmus Goeree, Amsterdam, 1682. Engraved title, [30] pages, 518 pages of text followed by [26] pages of index including directions to the binder. Illustrated with 16 plates, eight of which are folding. Includes a folding map of Jerusalem, Canaan (dated 1682), Temple of Solomon, etc. One folding plate with a repaired fold which is browned. Lacks single page plate at page 170 titled De Priesterlijke Kleedingen. Vol. II: published by Andreis van Damme, 1704. Engraved title, [22] pages, 558 pages of text followed by [24] pages of index including directions to the binder. Illustrated with 19 plates, seven of which are folding. Vol. III: published by Andreis van Damme, 1704. Engraved title, [38] pages, 495 pages of text followed by [33] pages of index including directions to the binder. Illustrated with 9 plates, eight of which are folding. Includes a folding map of Canaan (dated 1683). Vol. IV: published by Robbert Blokland, 1701. Engraved title, [14] pages, 466 pages of text followed by [18] pages of index including directions to the binder. Illustrated with 11 folding plates. An attractive set.. (Inventory #: 018395)
