Foltz, who was the H.J. Heinz Professor Emeritus of African Studies and Political Science at Yale University. He directed Yale's Center for International and Area Studies and Council on African Studies. Zuccarelli, born in Vietnam in 1942, is a French police officer who, in addition to his career in the French administration, also carried out several long missions in Senegal- a country to which he devoted several reference publications. Zuccarelli was technical advisor to the Minister of the Interior of Senegal from 1963 to 1982 and lecturer at the National School of Administration of Dakar. He is the author of various articles on the history and administrative organization of Senegal and this book on the Progressive Senegalese Union. An uncommon title and any book inscribed by Zuccarelli is scarce. Tall 8vo., printed wraps; 401 pages. Preface by Leopold Sedar Senghor.
