Ten plates, primarily city views, tinted in fawn or blue. Roughly a third of the text, including two chapters that deal exclusively with slavery, and plates deal with Mackay's travels in the south. His description of New Orleans is noteworthy ... [his] views on Southern life and slavery were favorable ... asserting that some slaveowners 'cohabited' with the more attractive young female slaves ... he overlooked the yeoman farmer in the South."
