This is actually two separate books published as one with editorial commentary by Jeffray. The Park was originally printed in 1783. The Moreau is offered here as the first English translation. Jeffray was a friend of Park and took the opportunity of the translation of the Moreau to present Park's earlier work to a wider public. Moreaus comments on Park's warlier work in the body of his book. Jeffray includes Park's rebuttal in this joint publication; there is a good deal of new content offered here. Both Moreau and Park treated destructive joint disease by excision and arthrodesis. Le Vay contends that Moreau's innovations in the late 18th century were virtually forgotten and were re-discovered only in the mid-19th century. See G-M # 4438 & 4440; Le Vay, History ...., for all citations. (Inventory #: 17037)
