by Gafney, Fr. Thomas E. and Sampurna Man Maskey
Kathmandu, Nepal: Nepal Jesuit Society, 1989. Other. Very good. A contemporaneous copy of a three-page, staplebound speech given by Maskey on his first-hand experiences as a heroin addict and subsequent recovery with the help of the Jesuit-founded Freedom Centre (a drug rehab program for boys and men); with statistics and observations of the drug problem in Nepal more broadly. Also includes a two-page companion piece by Gafney, founder of St. Xavier Social Centre which houses the Freedom Centre, on how authority figures should direct youth away from "the attractive but unattainable elements of the modern world..." Both pieces have light edge wear, and dog-eared pages. (Inventory #: 23257)
