An archive of blueprints, documents, instruction manuals, and photographs of the construction of the Canadian North Pacific railway from 1904. The building process began in 1910 and was completed in 1915. It is a historic Canadian railway with a main line running between the Alberta-British Columbia border and Vancouver, British Columbia. All the documents are from 1904 when construction was in the preliminary phase. These documents go over the plans and preparations needed to complete the railway. The archive consists of the blueprints for the railway as well as some construction photographs. The photographs begin later after construction started and feature shots of the railway set up along several rounds and mountainous areas sometimes with track boxes set up. There are some pictures of dams being built, one of which shows the dam leaking and the railway being halted. Another set of photos show the ice being blow up with explosives to lay the tracks on the ground. The manuals are for the survey of hydrographic information for the water power branches in the area. There are some water meter prototypes included with the blue prints. In some photographs men can be seen standing out in the snow, stopping at Nabob Coffee and other Vancouver stores. Nabob started in Vancouver in 1896 and still runs today. There are also some pictures of the native Canadians living in Vancouver and other parts of Canada while the railway was being planned. An interesting collection of ephemera and photographs relating to the construction of the Canadian North Pacific railway.
