Etching titled, "Etudes des Negres", published by Alfred Salmon, approx. 10 1/2 x 8 3/8 inches on cream colored Japanese style paper. "Edm. Ramus, sc" is printed under the right lower corner of the image. Under the left lower corner, "P.P. Rubens, poinx." is printed and and in the middle "Imp. A. Salmon" who printed this etching. Princeton University Art Museum has a copy of this etching which is described as a "faithful copy after an oil sketch originally painted on wood by Rubens between 1613 and 1615, depicting an unknown man of African descent expressing various emotions." [ see art museum at Princeton collections- objects/9044] Condition: Very good overall condition except for slight chip and tape remnant in upper left corner and very slight tear on upper margin, tape remnant on right margin, some sunning likely from previous frame.
