(Apparently issued simultaneously with the much more common cloth issue.) 280, (4, ads) pp. Wraps. Very Good condition for a paperback of this era despite wear: loss at head and tail, some soiling, chips and creasing to fragile wraps, and front wrap partially detached. Slight lean. A few slightly creased page corners. Most paperbacks from this time period are in much worse shape. A very special survival, with thin wraps made of paper no thicker than the text sheets.

A bestselling political novel, first published in the US on April Fool's Day 1880. The author's identity was unverified until after his death, 35 years later.
