Fine content A.D.S., folio, 1 page, Londonderry, January 14, 1831, an affidavit by pub owner John Aiken to the Committee opposing the roadway that would pass his establishment, in part: "...I John Aiken keep a Public House in Londonderry on the road leading from Charter to Manchester - am well acquainted with the road all the way and think myself and have frequently heard the teamsters and other travelers remark that with some trifling attention in the town through which the road paper would be an enclosed and very easy road to crop the Green Mountain. Since your honors Committee surveyed a new route through Londonderry I have frequently conversed with travelers... especially stage drivers... that they would be sorry to travel so far round..."
