Washington, D.C., (1988): Alvin Rosenbaum Projects. First Edition. Quarto. 191pp. with fore-words by John Hersey and L. Carrigton Goodrich, introduction by Jonathan D. Spence, and with a preface by Gamble's daughter Catherine Gamble Curran. Catherine tells how she and her sister used to help carry their father's camera and equipment while visiting China as children. She and her sister found thousands of photographs, movie reels and hand colored slide there father had taken over the years. This book was a product of those photographs and the importance of this book. These are not just photographs of China but photographs of life. Each photograph is accompanied by a poem or simply a thought. A beautiful and costly production. Bound in brown cloth with photographic image as pastedown, lettering black, spine plain, housed within a fine cloth covered case stamped in red., in original publisher's box with label printed in red and black. A fine copy.
