Full Calf
1647-8 · Firenze
by Ammirato, Scipione Il Giovane
Firenze: Amador Massi, Forlivese, 1647-8. Full Calf. Very Good. 4to. 32 by 22 cm. [4], 553, [4], 563, [36], 557-1188, [1] pp., with three title pages. Complete, but with volumes 2 and 3 and their pagination mixed up in the original publication. The pagination beginning in volume 2 continues to volume 3, but volume 3 is comprised of the chapters that should come first, and covers Florentine history from 1353 to 1434, while volume 2 covers the city state's history from 1435 to 1573. Ammierato wrote his work under the patronage of Cosimo Medici. The history was originally published in two parts, the first part in 1600, the second, in1641. Condition: surface abrasions to the calf, all volumes. Roughness to spine extremites, edges and corners. Still a binding worth preserving, in our view. Pages within have scattered foxing, occasionally heavy-ish.
