Los Angeles: Twentieth Century-Fox, 1976. Original 110 page final draft shooting script with color rewrite pages for the comedy film Fire Sale by Robert Klane, based on his novel. This specially bound copy belonged to film executive Alan Ladd Jr.’s and is signed by him “Ladd” in pencil on the front cover and has his name gilt-stamped at the bottom right corner of the front board. Laid in are 2 black and white 8 x 10 inch glossy stills with white borders; one is with cast members Alan Arkin, Rob Reiner, Anjanette Comer, and Barbara Dana as they stand on the sidewalk in front of their clothing store, and the other is of Vincent Gardenia, Sid Caesar, and Kay Medford. Hardbound in green gilt-stamped cloth. With some slight dampstaining to the script’s covers and a few interior pages, else a near fine copy with a touch of handling. Fire Sale was directed by its star, Alan Arkin, produced by Marvin Worth, and co-stars Rob Reiner, Vincent Gardenia, Anjanette Comer, Kay Medford, Sid Caesar, Barbara Dana, and Byron Stewart, and had a release date of June 9, 1977. The film tells the story of the Fikus family who, while grappling with financial crisis, decide to cash in on a fire insurance policy resulting in a series of madcap and misguided adventures. Alan Ladd, Jr. is one of the film industry’s most respected executives, with such noteworthy credits to his name as Young Frankenstein (1974), Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977), Alien (1979), Oscar winner The Right Stuff (1983), Moonstruck (1987), A Fish Called Wanda (1988), Thelma and Louise (1991), and Braveheart (1995).
