Carmen is recognized as one of the greatest of all 19th century operas. Composed in 1873-1874, it was first performed in Paris at the Opéra-Comique on 3 March 1875 to a libretto by H. Meilhac and L. Halévy after Mérimée under the baton of Adolphe Deloffre (1817-1876). (Inventory #: 29437)
