TIPPED-IN LETTER from Gilbert Dalziel (Edward's son) to a London bookseller requesting sale of the book. On the adjacent page is a HANDWRITTEN LETTER, SIGNED, BY THE JEAN INGELOW. It is addressed to Mr. Dalziel, dated 1876, thanking him for a royalty from the book. The Dalziel Brothers Company was one of the most well-known firms of Victorial engravers, founded in 1839. Jean Ingelow (1820-1897) was an English poet and novelist. As a girl, the contributed verses and tales to magazines under the penname "Orris". Illustrated throughout with 97 illustrations by the Dalziels, Houghton, Wolf, Poynter and others. A finely-bound copy with unusual association material. 318pp. Please see photos..
