A.L.S. 8vo. 2 pages, Bellevue Terrace Hotel, February 22, 1901, accepting an initiation, in part: "...Your kind initiation came yesterday while I was away so I could not answer it sooner. It was very pleasant to find that I was still remembered after so many years and I look forward eagerly to meeting you and your family at dinner this evening, as I am sure we will have many interesting things to talk over..." There is a small piece of newspaper glued to the bottom of the second page, text unaffected; otherwise in fine condition. American landscape and mariner painter who founded the American Watercolor Society in 1887 and served as its President until his death in 1918. (Inventory #: 284549)
