1930 · Habana
Habana: Imprenta "Ninon" for the Cuban government, 1930. [24]p., twelve b&w photos facing short verso captions, reproduced with barely-adequate clarity on twelve leaves of alkaline coated paperstock; softbound in 6x9.5 inch oblong printed wraps punchholed and tied with a decorative green & white cord. Covers are cheap material just a step up from construction paper, are quite toned and are edgeworn with longish splits to top and tail of the spinefold. A small bump affects all photographic corner-tips. Text in Spanish and English. Dated from internal mention; the National Capitol Building was "started in 1925, completed in 1929". The exterior edifice copies the congressional building in DC while the interiors attempt Vatican magnificence: Italian marble, gold leaf, stodgy forbidding designs to chambers and library.
