"The Medical and Surgical Register, of which only two parts were issued, is the first volume of case reports published by a United States hospital, and is one of the cornerstones in the history of American medicine, as well as one of the scarcest of medical periodicals" (Heirs of Hippocrates 1850). Garrison-Morton 2942 (Mott's first ligation of the innominate artery, page 9). The second part of the Register was not issued until 1820.
